“There are many ways to format a resume. I have found that the simplier the better and the following example is one I recommend”-Al Abrusia

Example: Resume format ….

Your Name

Your address

Telephone, Email

YOUR OBJECTIVES: This is your sales presentation. . Keep it short. Keep it precise. Don’t ramble. Stay focused. Write no more than one or two sentences. This is where a lot of people make themselves irrelevant by throwing in everything but the kitchen sink. Make sure your career objective pertains to the title of the position you are applying for.

EDUCATION Emphasize those skills, the education and training that specifically pertain to the position.

EXPERIENCE: This is your work history. Include the following facts:

<dir><dir>

Dates of employment. Make sure you don’t leave a gap in years. Employers like to see

the fact that you were always employed. Even if you were unemployed, put down

something that you did that was meaningful, like going back to school, or

volunteering.

Name and location of your employer. Type of work you did. Give not only the

position title, but also a very brief description of what you actually did and what makes you stand out from the rest.

For Sales Professionals: Position title, products, markets, applications, point of sale, example of customers, region covered and most importantly ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS. Very Important

Defined as:

Increased production

Increased sales

New accounts

Percentage increases

Generated profits

Increase business over previous year

New business

Saved your employer money

Cut costs

Awards

REFRENCES:You will be expected to list the names of people whom the employer

can contact for information about you. Make sure you get the permission of the people you’ll be putting down as references, because nothing is worse than a reference that is not available (vacation) or a cold call from someone you don’t expect to be calling

</dir></dir>

Give the following information about each reference

<dir><dir>

Full name

Title of their position

What was your relationship to this person (supervisor, peer, customer)

Name of business and address

Telephone, fax, email

</dir></dir>
